When IT and Product Got Married

JPMorgan Chase

In August 2023, I co-facilitated a workshop in Columbus, Ohio, with JPMorgan Chase’s Finance Product & Experience team and their Technology partners. The initiative, nicknamed PXT (Product, Experience, Technology), aimed to tackle the lack of transparency in financial reporting.

Through design thinking exercises, we mapped personas, use cases, and shared pain points, ultimately revealing a breakthrough around how both groups framed their most pressing questions. The session created alignment between two historically siloed teams ("bride’s side" vs. "groom’s side" was the running analogy) and laid the foundation for configuring and deploying ThoughtSpot, an AI-assisted analytics tool.

By surfacing frustrations, aligning perspectives, and reframing problems, the workshop helped accelerate Finance’s adoption of AI-driven data exploration while improving trust between Technology and the business side.
